Meet the Team
Dr. Azzam ul Asar
Professor and Dean Graduate Studies
Prof. Azzam ul Asar did his bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar and received his PhD and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Strathclyde Glasgow, U.K. He has completed his Post Doctoral studies from New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA. His research areas include power system, smart grid, microgrid, and intelligent system. Besides teaching, his primary agenda centres on focusing research work which has led to produce PhD, MS and BS graduates. He has supervised a number of research projects on energy systems. His name has been included in “Who’s Who” Engineering Education (WWEE). During his academic career, he has been involved not only in participating in the international and national conferences, but also led the task of organizing conferences, symposiums, workshop and seminars both at international and national levels. While participating in international conferences, he chaired and co-chaired several technical sessions of IEEE Conferences organized in various parts of the world.
He has over 100 publications in international journals and conference proceedings. He has been the recipient of several fellowships which he availed during the course of his research conducted in USA and UK. He has also served as a visiting Professor in the New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA. Dr Asar held several administrative positions during his service including Dean, Chairman, and Director graduate program. Currently, he is full Professor in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Dean Graduate Studies, CECOS University, Peshawar, Pakistan.
He is a member of several professional societies including IEEE USA, IEE UK, IE Pak and IEEE Pak. He acted as a referee for IEEE, U.S.A. and IEE U.K. technical journals and has reviewed several papers. He is currently Chair, IEEE Peshawar Subsection, Chair IEEE PES/PEL Joint Society Chapter working under Islamabad Section and an Executive member of IEEE Islamabad Section. He has organized several international Conferences and Symposia under IEEE Umbrella.
Dr. Irshad Ullah
Asst Professor(Phd) and HOD
Dr Irshad Ullah is Assistant Professor and Head of Electrical Engineering Department. He has been serving CECOS University as Assistant Professor since 2018. He did his PhD in Electrical Power Engineering from University Tun Hissein Onn Malaysia. Having his Master from Stafford Shire University UK in 2013 with his BSc. Electrical Engineering from CECOS University in 2010. He has published more than 20 research articles in well-reputed journal and conference. His field of interest is High Voltage Engineering with Lightning protection, Power Systems and renewable energies.
Lecturer and Academic Coordinator
Engr. Rizwan Ullah is Lecturer at the Electrical Engineering Department. He did his MS and BS from UET Peshawar. He is also working as Sports Coordinator CECOS University. His area of interest is zero voltage switched PWM Converters.
Col Ashfaq Ahmad (R)
Engineer Col Ashfaq Ahmad (R) is Director Welfare at CECOS University, as well as Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering Department. He headed the department since August 2011 to March 2018 and contributed in converting the department to Outcome Based Education (OBE) system. He is founding Director of Career Development Centre CECOS University and also founding head of Skill Development and Free Education Scheme, a community service program of CECOS for less fortunate young of society. Has served for more than 35 years on Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. Graduated from NED UET Karachi and NUST Islamabad in Electronics and Computer System Engineering, respectively. He is passionate about character building of younger generation to make them better human beings and productive citizens of Pakistan.
Engr Zaheer Farooq is working as Assistant Professor with Department of Electrical Engineering. His research interests include power converters, motor control and drives. Prior to CECOS, Zaheer Farooq has designed various external electrification projects for distribution companies. He greatly believes in clean and sustainable energy for everyone.
Engr Abdul Rehman is assistant professor cum exam coordinator in the Department of Electrical Engineering. His field of interest are artificial intelligence, image processing and antennas.
Engr. Khalid Rehman B.E Electronic 2003 Dawood University Karachi MS Personal, Mobile & Satellite Communications 2006 University of Bradford UK. He has served as Lecturer in UET Abbottabad Campus Abbottabad from April 2007 to April 2008 & Assistant Professor in the same institution from April 2008 to October 2008. Khalid joined CECOS as Assistant Professor in October 2008 till now. His research work is in the area of Packet Classification using TCAM.
Engr. Kiran Fayyaz has been working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Electrical Engineering having 11 years of teaching experience. She holds MS degree in Communication from UET Peshawar and pursuing PhD from CECOS University. Her Research interests includes MIMO, microstrip antennas , DR and wireless communication.
Engr. Abid Haider is an Assistant Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department. His research area is Vulnerability Assessment in the IoT framework. He did his MS and BS from UET Peshawar and currently pursuing his PhD from CECOS University. His teaching interests are Microprocessor-based Systems, Embedded Systems, Programming, Deep Learning, Signal Processing, Network Security. He has served as an Academic Coordinator and currently working on Campus Management Solutions’ deployment for CECOS University.
Engr. Azhar Qazi is Lecturer at the Electrical Engineering Department. His research area is FPGA-based high speed/low power CAM. He did his MS and BS from UET Peshawar and currently pursuing his Ph.D. from CECOS University. He has served as an Academic Coordinator and currently working Director Career Professional Development at CECOS University.
Muhammad Bilal Wadud
Engr. Muhammad Bilal Wadud is a Lecturer at the Electrical Engineering Department. He Hold MS and BS in Engineering from UET Peshawar and currently pursuing his Ph.D. from CECOS University.
His research area is optimization of vector quantization for image compression. He has teaching interests in Computer communication and networks, signals and systems, Digital signal processing, Introduction to Computing and mobile communication. He is currently working as Final year project Coordinator at CECOS University.
Muhammad Imran Khan
Engr. Muhammad Imran is Lecturer at the Electrical Engineering Department. He did his BS from UET Peshawar, MS from CECOS University and currently pursuing his PhD from CECOS University. He also has an MBA degree from VU and MS Economics from University of Peshawar. His research area is Power up-link minimization in 5G through Noma.
Ali Mujtaba Durrani
Engr. Ali Durrani is a Lab Engineer at Machines and Control Lab Department of Electrical Engineering. His MSc research focused on Micro Hydro Plant using Sewage Water. Ali earned his MSc and BSc Degrees from the CECOS University, Peshawar and is currently pursuing his PhD. His research focuses on Microgrids and Distributed Generation. He was also a part of KPK`s first Waste to Energy Power Plant.
Omer Mujahid received the M.Sc. degree in electrical communication engineering from CECOS University of IT & Emerging Sciences in 2017. He is currently with the Signals Processing Lab. His research interests include pattern recognition, embedded systems, machine learning, and FPGA based systems.
Engr. Ayesha Kazmi is a Lab Engineer at Electrical Engineering Department. Currently, she is associated with Circuits lab. She has completed her BS (Electrical Engineering) degree from Comsats University Islamabad (CUI) and her MSc(Electrical Engineering) is in progress. Her research interest is antenna designing specifically for Body Area Network (BAN).
Najib ur Rehman
Najib ur Rehman received his Masters degree in electrical communication engineering from CECOS University of IT & Emerging Sciences in 2019. He is associated with EED in Embedded System Lab. His research interests include embedded systems, optimization of FPGA-based systems and artificial intelligence.
Muhammad Ibrahim is a Lab Engineer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, CECOS University, Peshawar, where he teaches and demonstrates lab work for subjects like Wave Propagation & Antenna, RF & Microwave Engineering and Communication Systems. He has done BSc Electrical Engineering from CECOS University, Peshawar. During his bachelors, Ibrahim was a merit scholarship holder and was awarded a gold medal. His research interests include antenna design and fast pattern recognition through a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device based Content Addressable Memory (CAM). Currently, Ibrahim is pursuing his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from CECOS University, Peshawar, Pakistan.
Osama Bin Muzaffar
Osama Bin Muzaffar is a Lab engineer and teaches labs related to electronics lab at EED. He is currently pursuing his MS degree from NUST Islamabad and his research area focuses on integration of renewable energy resources into existing power systems. Osama loves discussing about the current affairs of Pakistan and loves talking about the new inventions and research in the field of engineering.
Office Assistant Cum Computer Operator
She multi-tasks most of the Department IT and Database related tasks. She holds a Ms in International Relations.
